While the enthusiasm for electric vehicles has waned for most manufacturers, it's not the case for Kia, whose waiting lists are long, extending for several months, and even several years in some cases.
Fortunately, there's something new in the Korean manufacturer's lineup with the EV9, the brand's new flagship electric model. We now know the price list, and all versions are eligible for government rebates, which is excellent news.
Here are the prices:
So, the starting price of the Kia EV9 is $63,159, making it eligible for federal and provincial rebates totaling $12,000. For this amount, you'll get the Light version equipped with a 76.1 kWh battery pack, providing an average range of 370 kilometers on a full charge. This version has a single electric motor with 215 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
Next is the Wind version with a price of $66,159. The battery capacity increases to 99.8 kWh, significantly extending the range to approximately 489 kilometers on a full charge. In terms of power, it's slightly below the Light version, with 201 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It's also important to note that the Light and Wind versions are offered with rear-wheel drive only.
The Land version, on the other hand, comes with all-wheel drive and is paired with the 99.8 kWh battery pack. Its estimated range is 451 kilometers, and the price is $68,158. Given the small price difference, I dare say this version will be significantly more popular than the first two, not only because it offers all-wheel drive. You'll understand that the Land version benefits from two electric motors for a total power of 379 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
Although the Land version sits at the top of the lineup, you can add several packages to enhance it, and that's where the price takes a significant jump. First, there's the Premium package at $74,995. The GT-Line package is slightly more expensive, bringing the total price to $78,995. Aesthetic improvements mainly justify this price difference.
